AVRA Endorses Candidates for Local Races
(PALMDALE) On September 24, 2001 the Antelope Valley Republican Assembly(AVRA) held a general membership meeting to consider and then vote on endorsements for Palmdale Mayor, Palmdale City Council, and a variety of local school boards positions throughout the Antelope Valley. [full press release]

Palmdale Republican Candidates Square Off
Three out of the six Republican candidates seeking a seat on the Palmdale council dais participated in a forum designed to determine which would be worthy of the coveted endorsement of The Antelope Valley Republican Assembly.  

Those participating included: Councilman Rick Norris, Richard Loa, and Celeste Eckley.  Candidates answered approximately 25 questions which were prepared by AVRA members, Joe Davies, Mary Louise Bly, Roy Ramirez, and various audience members of mixed party affiliation. 

School board candidates also attended the forum and filled out endorsing questionnaires in an effort to obtain the AVRA endorsement.

AVRA members will hold a general membership meeting on Monday, September 24th to vote on which candidates will be granted the AVRA endorsement.

AVRA set to hold Forum for 2001 Palmdale Candidates
This year's first political forum will be held by AVRA on Monday September 10th at 6:30pm at the Palmdale Senior Center.  The forum will spotlight Republican candidates running for Palmdale City Council and Palmdale Mayor.  

The coveted AVRA endorsement will be voted on by the AVRA membership on September 24th at AVRA's general membership meeting.  Candidates eligible to attend the forum include Mayor Jim Ledford, Councilman Rick Norris, Councilman Rod Penner, Councilman Jim Root, Richard Loa, and Celeste Eckley.  The Palmdale Senior Center is located at the corner of 10th Street West and Avenue Q12 in Palmdale.  For more information call 729-5000.
