Subject:  Republican Hispanic National Assembly National Convention

One week after the formation of the newly chartered Republican Hispanic National Assembly(RNHA) of the Antelope Valley, its interim president Richard Loa is already off to a national RNHA convention.

Richard Loa was a member of the RHNA for 2 years before starting the local chapter last week.  In fact, in March of this year he was voted by the California leadership to be National Committeeman for the State of California.  This position makes Richard Loa California’s representative at all RNHA conventions throughout the United States.

This year’s RNHA national convention is being held in Washington D.C. and will include a briefing at the White House on Thursday, April 26th at 1:30pm.  Later that day there will be a reception to honor more than fifteen political appointees to the Bush administration, including the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Mel Martinez.  That event will be called, “Juntos Podemos – Together We Can.”

On Friday, there will be a breakfast ceremony featuring the National Chairman of the RNHA, Jose Rivera.  After the breakfast there will be several sessions and committee meetings to take care of the official business of the RHNA including the election of national board members.

Saturday will be dedicated to education for the various members of RNHA.  Classes will include subjects such as: Tax reform; Leadership Development; Fundraising at the Grassroots Level: “Writing a Political Financial Plan”; and Grassroots Organizing: ”Building Partnerships.”  The day will culminate with a social event.

Sunday has a working breakfast slated to discuss strategy with the national board members.

The mission of the local RNHA is to build a membership organization to foster the principles of the Republican Party in the Hispanic community; to provide Hispanic Americans with a forum to play an influential role in local, state, and national Party activities; to increase the number of Hispanic Republican elected officials; and to create and maintain a network of Hispanic Republican leaders.

RNHA has pledged to register 2,000 new Hispanic Republicans in California. They have also pledged to double the number statewide chapters by December 31, 2001.  One means to accomplish this is to dedicate significant resources to support Republican representation at citizenship ceremonies to embrace newly sworn in Americans and aid them registering to vote.
