Subject: GOP Raffle to support the Salvation Army
(PALMDALE) The combined Republican Volunteer clubs of Antelope Valley have
joined forces to focus on an important and worthy cause.
Recently, Captain Dan of the Salvation Army has been communicating the
particularly dire need for funding for the organization that has helped so many
needy souls in the past. He has
taken his pleas to the airways and the newsrooms around the Antelope Valley in
search of a helping hand.
This cause has been a concern of local Republican Organizations and after much discussion a solution has been formulated to help provide some much needed cash to the Salvation Army. Joan Smith has laid the groundwork for a collaborative effort of all of the local GOP organizations to combine their might to bolster the Salvation Army’s coffers.
The
local organizations include: The 36th Assembly District Republican
Central Committee, AV College Republicans, Antelope Valley Republican Assembly,
Congress of Republicans, Palmdale Republican Women Federated, and the Republican
National Hispanic Assembly.
The vehicle to facilitate this goal will be a Fundraising Raffle for the local
Salvation Army.
A Public announcement will be held Friday, April 27th, 2001 at the home of
Joan Smith which will also
be the 36th Assembly District’s Republican Central Committee
monthly meeting. Joan Smith’s
address is 1611 West Avenue O-12, Palmdale. The drawing will be held on June 22nd.
As you may remember, Captain Dan told the Antelope Valley Press that their lack
of funds would cause the Salvation Army to scale back its mission. The efforts
to help were initiated when Joan Smith approached the Chairman of the Republican
Party of AV, Randy Hall, and said local Republicans could hold a raffle with the
proceeds to be donated to the Salvation Army.
Joan gathered up prizes from our local merchants with the combined Republican
volunteer clubs purchasing a 27 inch TV as the grand prize.
The other prizes are:
2. Blue recliner chair donated by CPK's Furniture
3. Radio Controlled Airplane Donated by Antelope Valley Ford
4. Limited Edition print "Loon"
5. $100 Cash donated by H.W. Hunter, INC. Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth,
Dawoo
6. $100 gift certificate donated by Antelope Valley Florist
7. Putter and Sand Wedge donated by Vista Golf Shop
8. Two rounds of golf plus cart donated by Rancho Vista Golf Course
Restrictions may apply for each award.
Friday April 27th will be the beginning of the Raffle with the drawing to be
held at the regular Central Committee meeting on June 22nd.
